The second Eugene Perchtenlauf had a few of the same participants, but many new ones as well. I also moved the date from early January to New Year’s Eve, to take advantage of the communal energy of that night and the larger crowds in the city. We took a similar route through downtown, and were even joined by a few passersby along the way. We ended with a group chant in Kesey Square:
Just as night flees from the day
We will drive the dark away!
Cold and hunger kept at bay
We will drive the dark away!
Winter spirits cannot stay
We will drive the dark away!
