Mummer Doll

A year ago, I found a strange little baby doll in a thrift store, dressed in a puffy suit of white fake fur. I immediately thought of making it into a tiny mummer. I finally made good on this idea, modelling it after the mumming costume of our Perchtenlauf leader (who can be seen in photos here and here), complete with a light-up staff of evergreen boughs. The mask is sheepskin. The bells are ones I have used in past mumming processions, for an added magical touch – on the doll they become much larger, echoing the giant bells worn by many Alpine mummers.
